Habibi Debuts New Song “Angel Eyes” From ‘Anywhere But Here’ Out 2/14 On Muddguts Records

“As refreshing as it is experimental in all its unassuming glory.” – Indie Shuffle

“[Habibi] are back to remind the world why they’re still one of the city’s best home-grown groups.” – NME

“[It] finds the band expanding beyond their garagey, girl group roots and incorporating Middle Eastern flourishes, exotic instrumentation, and other psychedelic touches.” – Brooklyn Vegan

Today, Habibi premieres Angel Eyes, the second single ahead of the release of their new album, ‘Anywhere But Here’ (out February 14th via Muddguts Records). Originally meant as a love note to The Good The Bad and The Ugly’s Lee Van Cleef, “Angel Eyes” was conceived during a phase where lead singer Rahill Jamalifard binged-watched spaghetti westerns.

Jamalifard, who is a first generation Iranian-American, recently shared an intimate view of Iran with Azeema, a publication exploring womxn within the Middle-East, North Africa and South Asia. “I’m really thankful that as a result of my work, I have been able to get some traction on larger platforms.” Rahill shared with them. “For me, this attention and visibility comes with a great responsibility. The responsibility of bringing awareness to the Muslim world and my Iranian heritage.” Watch photos of her last visit to her father’s city, Shiraz, and read the full feature here.

Habibi will perform release shows at Market Hotel in Brooklyn, NY on February 15th and at The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles, CA on February 28th. Full tour dates below, including a set at San Francisco’s Noise Pop Festival.
